Inventory or collection

Magic: The Gathering

Scanning Lab

Turn a stack of cards into inventory or collection lines, fast.

Scanning Lab opens as an action from either Seller Mode or Collector Mode, so the same capture-match-stage workflow can build stock or grow your collection.

◎

Live camera recognition

Detects a card’s boundary in the frame and captures it automatically once the shot settles, with a live outline over the preview so you can see exactly what the camera is tracking.

▶

Auto-scan reliability

A settling gate and blur/focus rejection stop bad captures before they reach matching, and a same-card guard skips re-staging a card you’re still holding under the camera.

▤

Staged-card preview

Every scanned card lands in a staging list with its art, set and printing shown before anything is committed, so a misread never ends up silently added.

⚙

Camera & scan filters

Choose your capture device from any connected camera, and apply Ignore Promos, Prefer Foil or Set Lock filters so matching follows how you’re actually sorting the stack.

→

Send to inventory or collection

Route a scanned batch into Seller Mode stock for any inventory profile, or into a Collector Mode binder, from the same scanning session.

◈

Auto-updating card index

A prebuilt Magic: The Gathering card-art index ships with the app and checks for updates automatically, so recognition stays fast without a lookup for every single card.

Workflow

From stack of cards to staged batch

Set up the camera

Pick your capture device and set Ignore Promos, Prefer Foil or Set Lock filters for the stack you’re about to scan.

Scan the stack

Hold each card under the camera and let auto-scan capture and match it, or capture manually whenever you want.

Review staged cards

Check each match’s art, printing and finish in the staging list, and correct anything the camera got wrong before it’s added.

Send the batch

Commit the whole staged batch to a chosen inventory profile or a Collector binder in one action.

Why a camera scanner helps

Typing a card name and set for every single card in a stack is the slowest part of building inventory or logging a collection. Scanning Lab replaces that with pointing a camera.

Skip typing card names and set codes one at a time.

Catch misreads before they reach your inventory with the staged-card preview.

Reuse your camera and filter choices across a whole scanning session.

Use the same tool whether you’re sorting stock to sell or cards to keep.

FAQ

Camera scanner FAQs

Does scanning need an internet connection?

Card matching runs against a local card-art index that updates in the background, so scanning stays fast offline; fresh prices and images still need occasional internet access.

Can I skip certain cards while scanning?

Yes. Ignore Promos, Prefer Foil and Set Lock filters shape which printing gets picked for every scan in the session.

Does it work for Pokémon as well as Magic?

Not yet. Scanning Lab currently recognises Magic: The Gathering cards only, matched against the Scryfall database.

Is the camera scanner available on the free tier?

Scanning into Collector Mode works within the free tier’s collection limits. Scanning straight into a Seller Mode inventory needs Pro, the same as the rest of Seller Mode.

Ready when you are

Scan a stack instead of typing it.

Download Toploader OS, try Scanning Lab on your own collection, and upgrade to Pro when you want it feeding a Seller Mode inventory.
