Troubleshooting & frequently asked questions

Answers to the things that look like bugs but aren’t, plus what to check first when something isn’t working as expected.

First things first

Before anything else, check for an update

Toploader OS ships fixes regularly. Most odd behaviour reported in the community turns out to already be fixed in a newer build — check the About section or the changelog before digging further.

Looks like a bug, isn’t

Things that are working as intended

Windows or macOS warned me about an unidentified developer

Expected. Toploader OS isn’t signed with a paid code-signing certificate. On Windows, choose More info → Run anyway; on macOS, right-click the app and choose Open.

First launch is taking a while

The splash screen is downloading the full Scryfall card database the first time, alongside exchange rates and Pokémon data. Subsequent launches are much faster since it’s just checking for updates.

A card’s price hasn’t changed even after I refreshed it

Scryfall only updates a single card’s price data once every 24 hours by design. Refreshing more often than that won’t pull a newer number.

My exported CSV says “Light Played” instead of “Lightly Played”

That’s expected. The app shows “Lightly Played” internally, but converts it to Whatnot’s own listing format (“Light Played”) only at export time.

My licence says it needs reconnecting

A validated Collector or Pro licence keeps working offline for up to 14 days. Past that, it needs a live connection to check in again — reconnect and it revalidates automatically.

A newly released set isn’t matching properly on import

This usually means your local Scryfall cache hasn’t synced the new set yet. Force a resync from Collector Settings, then try the import again.

General fixes to try first

Force a Scryfall or Pokémon database resync from Collector Settings if card data or images look out of date.

Run “Check Database” from Collector Settings if the app reports a database error.

Restore from your most recent “Backup Active (.zip)” file if a workspace looks corrupted — see the Settings & Licensing guide.

If a mistaken reconciliation or sale changed your stock incorrectly, edit or delete that transaction rather than adjusting inventory by hand.

Still stuck?

Join the Discord community with details of what you’re seeing, including your app version from About — that’s the fastest way to get help or flag something that genuinely looks like a bug.
